Recommended Books

Dear Students;
I had a student many years ago that was an avid reader. At one point he asked me if I had liked to read. Up until that point I had read much, the typical book or assignment while I was in high school, martial arts books or technical books was about all I could stand. I began reading and whole new world opened up to me. I started setting goals of about 7 books per year, then adding on. Last year I read 40 books, and this doesn't include trade magazines, it does include audio books as well.

I hope that some of the books I recommend will touch your lives and help you see into the mindset of the warrior as well as guide you in other areas too. I sometimes play a trick on my students and I ask if they could have any information on anything, or anyone, to learn about any topic, wouldn't that be amazing. Of course they reply with an astounding yes. I tell them the public library is such a place, now even the internet is a unbelievable source of knowledge.

I recommend these books just because I think that they are fun, exciting and educational. Enjoy them.

The art of happiness – the Dalai Lama
I read this book while traveling extensively through Japan. The book was tremendously helpful to me for many reasons, most of all it aligned perfectly with my philosophy. I love the Dalai Lama and believe he is one of the Sages in the world today and will remain that way forever. I hope to one day meet him.

The book is filled with information on how to deal with everyday struggles and how the Buddhist philosophies tie into them. It also takes an in-depth look at how our perception is our reality and how a slight shift in that perception could make all the world of difference. He is by far one of the most knowledgable people in regards to modern day struggles and how to deal with them through a compassionate heart. I am a huge fan and give this book 5 stars………..

Diet for a new America – John Robbins
This is probably the book that changed my life. After becoming a vegetarian I knew the direction that I wanted to take, but this truly solidified the process for me. The title of this book is slightly confusing; leading people in the direction that they think it may possibly be a book on actual diet. The truth is it is not a diet book in the general sense but more a book on learning the repercussions of what our diet as a society does and will continue to do to our environment and our bodies. The books has been quoted thousands of times in other books and is one of the leading books on vegetarianism in the world today. It is truly amazing and a must read. I give it 5 stars.

Men are from Mars, women are from Venus –
Dr. John Grey
This is a must for anyone who wants to be in a relationship whether it be a friendship or a love relationship. I found this book to be an amazing look at the point of views that are shared by men and women. Also the values and characteristics of a male and female and how they differ. This books is truly a relationship saver. The only problem is that both members of the relationship must read it in order for it to be 100% effective. It is a great read and will help you in either a serious relationship or even in just a friendship with the opposite sex. I highly recommend it. I give it 4 stars.

Leadership – Rudolf Guliani
Wow! I loved this book. After reading it, I changed many of my practices not only in my schools but in my business'. I had a strong desire to meet the Mayor and amazingly enough, on my way to the city while reading the book I said, this is the guy that I would love to meet. Walking through Lord and Taylors, I actually physically bumped into him. We walked directly into each other. Of course I grabbed my book out of my back pack and asked him to sign it. He did, so I have an autographed copy. He was really nice and took the time to talk to me for a minute. I think this book is an interesting look at a very interesting man and how he became who he is…….. I highly recommend this and give it 5 stars.

The power of Intention – Dr. Wyer
This book was an outstanding read, expecially if you are into the spiritual things that I am into. The books describes the power of will and how you can manifest the dreams and desires you have. The perfect example is how I ran into mayor Gulianni when I was willing it. I can go on and on about things that happen to me daily, but the book will help you put it all in perspective. I would recommend reading this book and then reading it again. I give it 5 stars.
